Five years ago, as my kitchen was being built, i was busy cooking and baking away in my dining room. I used plug-in, electric burners, a table top oven and a wooden table to knead dough, that would do double-duty as our breakfast and dinner table. Since we had no close access to running water, all throughout the day, I would carry my used tools, dishes, etc in a wide, plastic bucket all the way around the house to our mudroom sink, and back. As I think about those days, determined to do what creates joy-regardless of obstacles-reminds me of how life is really only as good as we see it. To this day (four years after the kitchen was completed)every morning, I still look into my sun-filled dining room and remember how I would gravitate to the sun. I remember how welcomed I felt-as if the room was saying “I’m here to support you- Nothing can stop you.” Just a reminder: Find the light and use it.
