Needed this Triple-S soothing meal-After spending the most wonderful weekend with my family in CA-celebrating the birthday of my youngest, Jessie- (who is expecting a baby girl this July) and after being scrumptiously glued my to my baby granddaughter Audra Rose -and after being able to cook for all of my kids under one roof (Jessie and Brian’s roof)- and then coming home and going “kaplunk” emotionally… because saying “goodbye” is extremely hard for me. ( I was one of those kids that clung to their mothers leg at the bus stop -school, camp, it didn’t matter…) So, yes, I needed this self-nurturing meal. Potatoes are, of course, on top- poached till tender, then drained and seasoned with good olive oil, salt and pepper (can add chopped herbs-rosemary, thyme)- then seared in a nonstick skillet till crisp and gorgeous. Hanger steak- pan-grilled (too tired today to cook with wood) and sautéed corn with chopped onions, thinly sliced Serrano peppers, sliced mushrooms and chopped cilantro. Feeling more inflated- but miss my children being all in one place. Part of the process of growing up, I guess-for all of us. #whenthisnanacooks #nurturingfood #ilovemychildren #imanananow
