Hi, All. Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve been in touch… But I certainly haven’t forgotten about you! To the contrary, I’ve been busy working to be able to speak to you more often (all the time!) in my blog.
I’m so often asked “Lauren, how do YOU do it? I’m asked for advice on parenting, on time-management, on mealtime strategy and, of course, about the real nitty-gritty involved with a wide range of cooking and baking techniques. And, because I’m also a self-mastery coach, students (and now website viewers) will often confide in me their sensitive family issues that seem to get in the way of having a good (no, a great) time, not just in the kitchen, but also in life, in general.
I want you to know that, in a first hand way, I’ve experienced many of the same fears and frustrations that you have. I just seem to love the process of growing enough to keep pushing through my issues. So, in my blogs, my goal is to share with you my personal process; my thoughts and insights, whether in reflection or while still struggling, not just so that you can benefit from being privy to my road but also so that I, myself, can stay on the path. Many times, the clarity I experience seems huge, yet it often remains locked inside until I literally push it out and into the light where I can fully digest and utilize my own inner understanding. And so, because I think you might identify with me, I’d like to take you with me on my personal journey (which will cover a wide range of topics) to hopefully provoke more deep-level thinking in you, along with a more heightened state of awareness. That way, we can grow in many ways, together.
Many of my blogs will have a supporting recipe, often with clarifying photographs. The recipes will either speak directly to a specific cooking process or one that illustrates a feeling expressed in the blog-story. If a recipe is currently on my website, you’ll find a link to a printable version embedded within the blog. And, when a recipe is not yet on the site, I will have it printed on the blog page itself, so you can just copy and paste it onto a Word document.
I’ll also be giving my “take” on some of the restaurants I attend and the things I see and hear in the media, about food trends and/or family issues.
So, in addition to my hope that you’ll come to my website often, whether for the Great Recipes, or for the detailed information in the Kitchen Management section or to visit the media room to hear my pod-casts and/or to see the on-line video series, I also hope you’ll frequent my blog page. You’re also invited to share with me your thoughts and comments (and personal experiences) either in the comments box underneath the blog-text or, for a more private way to respond, you can email me directly by using the Ask Lauren page on my website.
For your browsing convenience, below and to the side, I’ve put links to some of the content from my recently posted blog pages.
(And, if you have any trouble viewing any of this newsletter, just click on the link at the very top of the page which should fix things.)

Oh, and I’m now on Facebook and (if you can believe it…) even on Twitter!
As always, I’m here for you and yours…

“All throughout my childhood the only type of fish we ate at home was fillet of sole and even that was a rarity. “Don’t choke” my mother would blurt, just as the fork would hit my lips. I remember looking at my brothers across the table thinking “How can a person choke on a piece of fillet of sole?” Read more…

To Share an Insight…
If you’re someone who feels that in order to make a difference, you have to move mountains, it’s a potential trap. Although admirable, this often keeps people stuck in fear and scarcity. When we “over-plan” our greatness, we can become overly expectant of grandiose results, which very often creates an all-of-a-sudden fear of failure. In response to this fear, we usually freeze, causing much of our potential to provide simple goodness to others locked inside of ourselves. So, if you are overly expectant of yourself (when entertaining, for example)….This can keep you fearful of being a disappointment, which, in turn, will likely keep you from opening your home to your friends and associates as often as you would truly like. Creating “greatness” is not something that’s achieved all at once, it’s something to be pursued in an on-going way and on a day-to-day basis, using one’s particular skill-set. To read some of my thoughts about what I personally do to satisfy my on-going desire to live a meaningful life, click here.

Here’s a special apron, specifically designed to help you cook with greater comfort, efficiency AND style….

If you wear an apron while cooking (and I certainly hope you do!) I think you’ll adore my design that answered all my very specific “issues” when wearing other kinds of aprons. Go to the LGK Apron for Real Life page, and read about all the features! Also, the apron and towel set makes a great gift, especially when given along with a signed cookbook.
