About
Lauren
Meet Lauren, a devoted wife and mother, internationally-renowned
cook, lifestyle advisor and teacher. She has carefully and lovingly
created this "virtual kitchen" in celebration of all of
you who wish you could gather your family around a thoughtfully-prepared
home cooked meal regularly -- and make it a priority -- but don't
know where to begin.
Understanding how and why things happen in the kitchen (culinary cause-and-effect), and becoming more knowledgeable about your ingredients will quickly enable you to become more confident, less tentative and thus, more creative. Check out our Food Matters A-Z section.

It’s Spring! Puree of Asparagus Soup, With Roasted Pepper Coulis
If you love asparagus, this soup is just delicious and, when served with a mixed green salad that’s lightly dressed with a perky-tasting vinaigrette, it makes a fabulous lunch or a casual supper. I suggest using homemade stock, which is basically salt-free and, irrespective of the type, always has so much more flavor than the canned version.
Pan-Seared & Oven Roasted... Herb & Garlic Scented, Double-Rib Lamb Chops
You won’t find lamb chops better than these. Thick, with a very dark exterior, a rosy-red interior and a savory flavor that leaves nothing to be desired. This recipe illustrates perfectly the concept of how uncomplicated food can provide a big dining experience.
Orange-Scented Currant Scones
As far as my family and friends are concerned, this recipe produces scones that are unsurpassed. The biscuit mix has been specifically designed to make scones that are lighter than most with a very tender, slightly cake-like crumb.
If you use my timing strategy at the end of this recipe, you’ll see that making scones is truly a snap!

Life Lessons: When a great cookie goes bad.
An elegant lunch, for one, at home on a weekend (and I?m worth it!)
A backward turn on an upward path (and a yummy reprieve).
I?ll take veal parm (or anything ?parm?), any day, over fru-fru food!
